It is the home of
a number of important
educational institutions, among the principal ones
being the University, founded in 1696; two na–
tional high. schools; .and the Seminiary, founded
in the sixteenth eentury.
The Municipality of Cuzco was founded by
Pizarra in 1534, and is located in the old monast–
ery of the
J
esuits of St. Bernard.
There are two museums of Inca art,-that of
the University, which is open to the public from
f
our to five each afternoon; · and
the
private
museum· of Mr. Tomás Alvistur, in Mesón de la
Estrella Street.
