been founded by the Virrei Prí11dpe de Esquilache, Francisco de

and natives of Incaic nobi1ity.

saihuaimán, the ancient Incaic locality known as Cceilccaimpana,
residence of the first Inca Manco K coopac, of no

historically. After the conq·uest this palace of San Cristobal was
occupied by the Inca Paullu., son of Huaina Kccápac as a reward

This last mentioned

later beheaded in the

of Cuzco in 1572.
The present Iglesia was erected on the site formerly occupied
by the palaice of Ocolccampata by the Inca P-aullu
