EL TRIUNFO (Temple). -
Adjoining the southern wa11 of the
Cathedral is the 'l'emple -
so ca1led becau e it was built in com–
me,moration of the triumph of the Spaniards against the Indiane
in th.e siege of Cuzco.
In
the time of the Incas
it
formed part of the palace of Huira.

round H-0use) . Herein the Srpaniards took refuge in the year
1536
when .beseiged by about 300,000

was built within a period of twenty-four months,
1729
to
1732,
owing to the energies
of Bishop Fernando de Serrada.
As compared with the Oathedral its facade is c.omparatively low
and of simple construction.

The Temple has three naves, divided by >Strong and wide pi1lars.
One of tbe most notable features of the building is the altar of
the chancel, of polished and beautifully decora.ted granite. In the
