By way of general introduction there is enterad here the general state–
ment of purpose of the conference as drafted by Secretacy North of the
American Bible Society:
"Mejor Objective: To bring about a eubetantial coneensus of agreement
upon a prectical orthogrephy for the Indian languagee of the Andes, (1)
uniform for al1 dialects to the extent that uniformity ie practicable,
with additional characters where dialect speech sounds so require, (2)
making uee of the Spanish orthography as far as possible end where that
is coneistent in uaage, (3) avoiding by every practical effort the use
of symbols not contaimd in standard Spanieh type fonta.
